Oman's automobile fuel production increases by 15%

MUSCAT: The production of automobile fuel by refineries and petroleum industries in the Sultanate of Oman increased by 15.5 per cent by the end of February 2024 compared to the same period in 2023, according to preliminary statistics issued by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).

Statistics showed that the production of regular automobile fuel m-91 decreased by 16 per cent at the end of February 2024, compared to an increase of premium automobile fuel m-95 by 25 per cent. The production of automobile fuel m-91 reached about 2.386 million barrels, hile its sales amounted to 2.231 million barrels.

The production of automobile fuel m-95 recorded 2.214 million barrels, with sales reached 2.047 million barrels.

The production of gas oil (diesel) decreased by 17 per cent, recording 4.588 million barrels, and its sales recorded 2.252 million barrels. Aviation fuel production also increased by 36 per cent, recording 2.102 million barrels, and its sales recorded 742,900 barrels. Liquefied petroleum production reached 1,409,300 barrels, while its sales reached 1,630,100 barrels.

Regarding petrochemicals, statistics show that gasoline production increased by 22 per cent, recording 28,400 metric tonnes, while paraxylene production reached 100,100 metric tonnes, rising by 31 per cent. Polypropylene production decreased by 6 per cent, recording 38,300 metric tonnes, but its sales increased by 77 per cent registering 6,000 metric tons.

The Sultanate of Oman’s exports of automotive fuel m-91 decreased by 13 per cent to reach 505,800 barrels. Exports of premium automotive fuel m-95 until end of February 2024 recorded an increase of 691 per cent to reach 276,900 barrels. The exports of gas oil (diesel) reached 2.128 million barrels, and 1.338 million barrels for aviation fuel. Exports of liquefied petroleum gas amounted to 147,600 barrels.

Paraxylene exports reached 102,400 metric tonnes, gasoline exports reached 25,200 metric tonnes, and polypropylene exports reached 25,200 metric tonnes. — ONA
